For over 50 years, this legendary establishment has provided a fabulous, welcoming establishment for gay New Yorkers, LGBTQ tourists and visitors & yes, even the occasional heterosexual to enjoy the wild laughter song and community of Greenwich Village. There are 2 floors each with it's own full bar. The street level opens early and offers a piano where you can sing or just listen; or sit a spell on a stool at our bar. The upper echelon treats you to a piano-bar paradise, where early evening gatherings harmonize with chilled vibes.

Since opening in at 80 Grove Street by Joe Scialo, the bar has been a popular destination for the LGBTQ community — along with friends and allies — for its drag shows, Sunday tea dances, and its piano bar. But when the pandemic hit and places closed, the beloved Baldwin piano was carted off and a staff meeting was called. Daniel Tobey, who, up until then had been working at the Monster two nights a week as a party promoter, felt the venue should persevere.

This was before the arrival of federal assistance and before local businesses shifted to outdoor operations.

For the regulars who had been frequenting the bar for the past 30 to 35 years, the place was more than a weekend haven. It was home. And he was determined to bring back a piano.
